One-Click Printable Certificates for Every Student

May 2026 · 4 min read

End of the unit. End of the semester. Field day. Awards day. Every PE teacher knows the moment: 30 students lined up, 30 certificates that need to look like they care.

Until last week, that meant a Word doc, a mail-merge, a printer queue that always jammed at student #12, and an hour you didn't have. Today, Running Kiddos generates a class-wide PDF in one click — with each kid's actual stats automatically filled in.

What it looks like

Hollencrest Middle School
Certificate of Achievement
PRESENTED TO
Emma Smith
DISTANCE CHAMPION · FALL 2026
For running 142 laps from August 14 to December 22, 2026.
Keep up the great work!

Landscape Letter, gold double-border, the school's name at the top, the kid's name in big elegant Times type, the achievement in your school's green, and dotted lines for date and coach signature. Print on the cardstock you already have for awards day.

Five templates, no setup

Each template auto-fills from the data you've already collected. The current period filter (Fall 2026, this week, last 30 days, whatever you have selected) flows straight into the certificate's body text and headline.

๐Ÿ†
Distance Champion
Total laps. Best for end-of-period bulk handouts when you want every kid to leave with a number they can be proud of.
๐Ÿ“
Miles Achiever
Total distance. The mile-club version — great for older kids who care about their running mileage.
โšก
Personal Best
"For setting a new personal record of 14 laps in a single run on November 5." Print on the spot when a kid breaks their own record.
๐ŸŽฏ
Participation
For showing up, working hard, being part of the team. The one every kid gets at the end-of-year ceremony.
โœ๏ธ
Custom Achievement
Write your own headline + body. Two fields, no fonts to fiddle with. "Effort & Sportsmanship" for the kid who didn't lead the leaderboard but earned recognition another way.

Single student or whole class

Two paths into it, depending on the moment.

1One kid, one cert. Open any student's profile, click the green Certificate button, pick a template. The dropdown shows you the actual numbers in advance — "Distance Champion ยท 142 laps" — so you know what you're about to print. Click. PDF.

2Whole class, one document. On the Students page, select the kids you want, open Bulk actions, choose Print certificates…. Pick a template. The result is one PDF with one certificate per page — print the whole document and hand them out. No zip files. No batch downloads. One Print dialog.

Skip the kids who didn't run. A "Skip students with 0 laps" toggle is on by default for bulk certs. They can still get a Custom Achievement separately so no one feels left out.

Period-aware totals

If you've set up a saved period like Fall 2026 in the dashboard, the certificate uses those dates automatically. The headline reads DISTANCE CHAMPION ยท FALL 2026, and the body says "from August 14 to December 22, 2026."

For rolling presets like "Last 30 days," the headline drops the badge (because "Last 30 days" stops being meaningful by next month) and the body just spells out the actual date range — "from April 6 to May 6, 2026."

The point: parents reading the certificate at home a year from now still know exactly what their kid did and when.

How it scales

The bulk version uses the same renderer as the single version. A class of 30 takes about 3 seconds to generate — the slow step is your printer, not the app. We've tested up to 200 students in one PDF; works fine.

The PDF is generated entirely in your browser using your own data. Nothing's uploaded to a third-party service. Your students' names and stats never leave your device for this feature.

What's next

A few teachers have asked about uploading their school's logo, custom colors, and digital signatures. Coming in v2. For now, your school's name appears at the top of every certificate, and the rest is the Running Kiddos brand.

Also coming: Class Champion certificates that show "#1 of 28 runners in 3rd Period PE for Fall 2026" — an awards-day variant for the top performers in each class.

Cost

Certificates are included on every Running Kiddos plan, including the free tier. No add-on, no per-cert fee. You're already tracking the data; printing it on a nice piece of paper is free.
